- The film’s theme may involve an alien invasion since co-writer/director Edgar Wright dropped hints in a recent interview saying: “Social science-fiction. Look it up on Wikipedia and then bone up on John Christopher and John Wyndham.” John Christopher AKA Samuel Youd wrote The Tripods, while John Wyndham did The Day of the Triffids and The Midwich Cuckoos, which would later be what we know as the Village of the Damned films. With these hints, it’s easy to assume that there will be some sort of alien takeover/body snatchers-type theme.
